Surety
Surety performance bonds help protect against the risk of unrecovered losses where a contractor or other party defaults on its performance obligations. In an often volatile market routinely impacted by external events, stakeholders need advisers who understand the surety landscape and can help manage risk when issues arise.
Our specialist surety team is internationally recognised for its expertise in performance bonds, other guarantees and indemnities.
What do we do?
Gateley Built Environment’s surety team advises major surety clients as loss adjusters on liability under bonds, with particular experience in UK and Irish construction bonds. We have been involved with many of the leading judgments concerning construction performance bonds and our experience enables us to engage quickly and meaningfully with all stakeholders to assess the value and timing of claims, provide strategic advice, and support the effective resolution of claims and bond release. In addition to our claims work, we provide run-off services for clients leaving the surety market, as well as advice and training for new entrants.
We regularly work alongside the Gateley Legal surety team which advises on contentious and non-contentious legal issues relating to surety arrangements, drawing on specialists across Gateley where required.
Who do we help?
Our team advises sureties on performance bonds issued in connection with projects across a wide range of sectors. We are regularly instructed by clients including Aviva, Allianz Trade, Chubb, Markel, Pelagos, QBE, Swiss Re, Travelers and Zurich.
